As a Student Affairs Officer for Maastricht Summer School (MSS), you help create short-term academic experiences that leave a lasting impact on students from around the globe.
Student Affairs Officer –Maastricht Summer School (0.8–1.0 FTE)
- Our goal: Deliver a high-quality, inspiring Summer School with courses in a variety of fields and disciplines for students and professionals.
- Your colleagues: A dynamic and international team within the Student Services Centre.
In this role, you are fully responsible for preparing, coordinating and running the yearly Maastricht Summer School programme from start to finish. You independently manage planning, budgeting, timelines, and multiple deadlines, ensuring smooth execution from start to finish.
You collaborate closely with academic staff, administrative departments, and external partners to ensure operational and academic alignment.
You also oversee the complete student process: managing communication with prospective and admitted students, processing applications and enrolments, maintaining student records, and serving as the primary point of contact throughout the programme. You ensure a smooth and high-quality student experience before, during, and after the Summer School.
What you will do
- Coordinate and deliver Maastricht Summer School.
- Take responsibility for the MSS programme yearly budgets and financial monitoring, including course fees and communication costs.
- Organise information sessions for internationally diverse student groups.
- Recruit students globally to join our summer courses.
- Network with academic and administrative staff across UM faculties and maintain contact with external stakeholders and partner institutions.
You combine structure with flexibility and thrive in a fast-paced, international environment where no two programme cycles are the same. This position occasionally requires to travel (<5%).

You have an excellent command of English (both written and spoken) and solid experience with the Microsoft Office package. Experience in higher education, study abroad programming, sales, marketing and/or project management is considered an asset. Knowledge of Maastricht University is a plus.
Due to the peak of this programme is in the summer months, we expect you to be fully available from June through August.
What we offer

- A temporary contract of one year (0.8–1.0 FTE) with the prospect of permanent employment.
- A gross monthly salary in scale 8 (CAO-NU), between € 3.382,- and € 4.484,- (based on full-time employment of 38 hours per week), excluding 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus.
- 29 vacation days (based on full-time), 4 additional public holidays and the possibility to accrue 12 extra days through compensation hours.

The Student Services Centre (SSC) is the central hub for student support at Maastricht University. From admissions and registration to legal advice, career guidance and extracurricular activities, the SSC enables students to thrive academically and personally.
