Job description
As Scientific Information Specialist, you play a key role in supporting students, lecturers and researchers of the Faculty of Law (FL) in effectively finding and using scientific information. You will work within a dynamic academic environment in which innovation and knowledge sharing are central. Besides advising on the teaching and research collections, you actively contribute to the development of training in the field of digital information literacy and innovative projects such as AI literacy, Open Science in Education and open educational reources. You will have the space to further develop and collaborate with colleagues from the Faculty of Law and the University Library.
You will be concerned with:
- advising on the acquisition and termination of teaching and research collections for FL and facilitating their use;
- identifying, inventorying, analysing the wishes of FL users with regard to the collections (incl. databases);
- developing and providing training courses, workshops and online modules in (digital) information skills in coordination with FL stakeholders;
- answering users' practical questions about the existing collection (incl. databases) and advising on supporting software in the field of information literacy (e.g. reference management tools);
- contributing to innovation projects in line with the needs of UM staff for new UB policies and services.
Requirements
The University Library is looking for you if you want to contribute to services for our students, lecturers and researchers. You are communicatively strong and customer-oriented. You work proactively and independently and can work well together in different teams. You are closely involved with the client and are organisationally sensitive. Furthermore, you are analytical, results-oriented and can translate innovative ideas into practice.
Furthermore, you have:
- at least a completed Master's degree, preferably in a legal field; a PhD is a plus;
- experience and affinity with developing and delivering education (preferably in digital and information skills), in online learning environments and with e-learning modules;
- experience in conducting literature searches;
- understanding of or experience with using relevant online bibliographies, databases and search engines for the legal field;
- knowledge of or interest in recent developments in the (inter)national (digital) information landscape;
- a very good command of Dutch (level C1) and English (level C1).
What we offer
As Specialist scientific information legal domain at Universiteits Bibliotheek, you will be employed by the most international university in the Netherlands, located in the beautiful city of Maastricht. In addition, we offer you:
- Good employment conditions. The position is graded in scale 10 according to UFO profile Specialist Wetenschappelijke Informatie, with corresponding salary based on experience ranging from €3378,00 and €5331,00 gross per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week). In addition to the monthly salary, an 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus apply.
- An employment contract for a period of 12 months with a scope of 0,8 FTE. Upon proven suitability, the employment contract will be converted to an indefinite contract.
- At Maastricht University, the well-being of our employees is of utmost importance, we offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home if the nature of your position allows it. You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance for this. If you work full-time, you will be entitled to 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, namely carnival Monday, carnival Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day. If you choose to accumulate compensation hours, an additional 12 days will be added. Furthermore, you can personalize your employment conditions through a collective labor agreement (CAO) choice model.
