Healthcare today faces growing challenges: complex health risks, diverse treatment options, and staff shortages. These pressures require resilient solutions at every level—individuals, teams, and organizations—to ensure consistent, affordable, and high-quality care. 


The CAREMORE project (Comprehensive Approach for Resilience Enhancement – Methods, Opportunities, Resources, and Education) focuses on resilience education with a holistic perspective.
This includes individual coping strategies, fostering team learning, and building a resilient organizational culture. Based in the Meuse-Rhine Euregion—a region known for its cross-border healthcare collaborations and diverse healthcare practices—this project aims to design, implement, and evaluate educational activities that promote resilience in healthcare settings.

 

As a postdoctoral researcher, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping these educational activities and driving innovation in healthcare resilience.

 

Your Responsibilities
You will:

  • Map existing educational programs that enhance resilience at individual, team, and organizational levels (via interviews and literature reviews).
  • Design and implement activities to strengthen team and organizational resilience.
  • Conduct research on designing, implementing, and evaluating resilience-focused education (Educational Design Research).
  • Publish research findings in academic journals and present at conferences.
  • Collaborate closely with healthcare providers and project partners in the region.
  • Manage the CAREMORE project (Interreg funding).
  • Take on teaching responsibilities within our faculty.
  • Supervise other researchers and contribute to new grant applications.

 

Requirements
We are looking for someone who:

  • Has (or is close to obtaining) a doctorate in education, healthcare, or a related field.
  • Brings strong communication skills, creativity, and the ability to work independently.
  • Is fluent in Dutch and English.
  • Holds a University Teaching Qualification (preferred but not required).

 

What we offer
As a Postdoc at the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences, you will be employed by the most international university in the Netherlands, located in the beautiful city of Maastricht. In addition, we offer you:

  • Good employment conditions. The position is graded in scale 11 according to UFO profile Researcher, with corresponding salary based on experience ranging from €4537,00 and €6209,00 gross per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week). In addition to the monthly salary, an 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus apply.
  • An employment contract for a period of 12 months with a scope of 0,8 FTE. Upon a positive evaluation, an extension of 2 years will follow.
  • At Maastricht University, the well-being of our employees is of utmost importance, we offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home if the nature of your position allows it. You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance for this. If you work full-time, you will be entitled to 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, namely carnival Monday, carnival Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day. If you choose to accumulate compensation hours, an additional 12 days will be added. Furthermore, you can personalize your employment conditions through a collective labor agreement (CAO) choice model.

Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences
At the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (FHML), everything revolves around healthy living. Our research and education are not solely focused on recovery, but place a strong emphasis on prevention, health preservation, and health promotion.
