Physician-researcher implementation project permissive weight bearing
Welcome to Maastricht University!
Until recently, the best way to treat a patient after fracture surgery was a matter of debate. Previously, these patients were kept non- weightbearing for extended periods, but recent studies show that a policy focused on earlier and more personalised weight-bearing regime (so called permissive weight-bearing) leads to better outcomes.
Physician-researcher implementation project permissive weight bearing

As a researcher, you will be the central figure in this research group, liaising with the participating hospitals. You will also be responsible for conducting qualitative and quantitative research, evaluating outcomes, and writing reports and scientific publications.
- Your colleagues: As a physician-researcher, you will assist in various hospitals with the introduction and evaluation of permissive weight-bearing as a post-treatment for trauma patients following surgery for a lower extremity fracture.
What you do
- Stimulate the introduction of permissive weight bearing in the different hospitals
