Part-time Event Coordinator

Do you enjoy bringing people together and creating seamless, memorable events? At the School of Business and Economics (SBE), we are looking for a part-time event coordinator who can turn ideas into engaging experiences that strengthen our community and showcase our School to the world.
Part-time Event Coordinator
- Our goal: To organise inspiring events that support SBE’s strategic goals in marketing and communication.
- Your colleagues: You will join SBE’s Marketing & Communication team: an international and dynamic group of 12 professionals working in marketing, recruitment, communications and alumni/external relations.
As an event coordinator, you will support the planning, managing, and evaluation of events that make an impact—from Bachelor’s and Master’s Open Days and graduation ceremonies, to experience days and the International Case Competition. You will collaborate with colleagues, external suppliers, and stakeholders to deliver events that are professional, creative, and welcoming.
What you do
- Coordinating all phases of event planning, from registration to programme design and supplier management.
- Overseeing event budgets and ensuring financial accountability.
- Supporting event promotion through internal and external channels.
- Managing online event platforms and digital tools.
- Collecting feedback and translating insights into improvements.

- At least two years of experience – You have worked in event coordination and know how to manage processes from start to finish.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills – You can juggle multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Excellent communication skills – You express yourself clearly, professionally, and adapt easily to diverse stakeholders.
- Problem-solving ability – You remain calm, resourceful, and solution-focused under pressure.
- Interpersonal and networking skills – You build positive relationships with colleagues, partners, and suppliers.
- Technical proficiency – You are familiar with event management software, digital tools, and AV equipment.
- Flexibility – You are open to occasionally working evenings or weekends when events take place.
- Creativity and an eye for detail – You bring fresh ideas and ensure high-quality execution.
What we offer
At Maastricht University, you will work in an international, open and supportive environment. We offer:
- Good employment conditions. The position is in graded in scale 8 according to the UFO profile Communicatiemedewerker 2, with corresponding salary based on experience ranging from € 3.382,00 to € 4.484,00 gross per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week). In addition to the monthly salary, an 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus are applicable.
- We offer a 0.4 FTE appointment for the period of one year.
- At Maastricht University, the well-being of our employees is of utmost importance, we offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home if the nature of your position allows it. You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance for this. If you work full-time, you will be entitled to 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, namely carnival Monday, carnival Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day. If you choose to accumulate compensation hours, an additional 12 days will be added. Furthermore, you can personalize your employment conditions through a collective labor agreement (CAO) choice model.
