Lecturer in quantitative methods - Fixed term 1 year

  • Our goal: Help students build the quantitative skills they need to understand and solve complex economic and business challenges.
  • Your colleagues: An international team of researchers and educators within the Department of Quantitative Economics at the School of Business and Economics.


You will join the Department of Quantitative Economics, an internationally recognised department with strong expertise in econometrics, actuarial science, mathematical economics, operations research, and quantitative methods. Together with your colleagues, you contribute to high-quality education in an international and collaborative academic environment.


As a Lecturer in Quantitative Economics, you contribute to this foundation by teaching and guiding students in statistics, quantitative methods, mathematics, and related subjects. You will primarily teach tutorial groups within the School of Business and Economics (SBE) and University College Maastricht (UCM). 


What you bring

  • A MSc or PhD in a quantitative field; experience in teaching statistics is a plus.
  • Willingness and ability to teach courses and topics in statistics, operations management/research, and mathematics.
  • The preferred start date of the appointment is August/September 2026.


What we offer

  • A 12-month contract (1,0 fte).
  • A gross monthly salary between €3546,00 and €5538,00 in scale 10 (Docent 4). Salary is based on full-time employment of 38 hours per week. 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus.
  • 29 vacation days (based on full-time), four additional days off (Carnival Monday and Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day), and the possibility to accrue up to 12 extra days through compensation hours.
