DEI+ Policy Advisor
Our goal: the DEI+ Office is the centre of expertise and advice in the field of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Sexual Safety (together: DEI+). Our mission is to work towards a diverse, inclusive, accessible and socially just university, where everyone feels welcome, is heard, feels represented and is treated fairly.
Your colleagues: You work within the central DEI+ Office, together with policy advisors, project leaders, a data analyst, student assistants and communication advisors.
What you do
In this role, you contribute to the sustainable implementation of the DEI+ strategy and work on culture-changing DEI initiatives. You support university-wide projects and contribute to a solid and future-oriented DEI+ framework. More concretely, this means you will be involved in the following:
- You coordinate and guide DEI+ projects in their start-up phase, with the aim of transferring these projects sustainably to existing UM units.
- You contribute substantively to UM-wide projects from a DEI+ perspective.
- You support and connect DEI networks (such as FEM, UnliMited Network/DIG, UMPride and ACMUS). You manage relationships with grassroots initiatives and act as their point of contact.
- You advise on DEI+ policy and represent the DEI+ Office in working and steering groups.
- You support the PDCA cycle of DEI+ projects together with the data analyst.
- You organize expert circles and operational DEI+ consultations.
- You deliver workshops and lectures on DEI+-related topics.

What you bring

- Strong in strategic thinking and policy development within complex organizations.
- You are a knowledgeable sparring partner who can deal well with resistance and find creative solutions.
- Demonstrable experience and expertise in DEI+ topics.
- Preferably experience in developing and delivering training in the field of DEI+.
- Excellent communication and connecting skills, in both Dutch and English.
- Sensitive to social, academic and cultural dynamics.
- Proactive, autonomous and at the same time strong in collaboration and a team player.
What you can expect from us
At Maastricht University, you work in an international, open and engaged environment. We offer:
- A one-year contract with the prospect of a permanent contract upon mutual satisfaction. The contract scope is 0.6 to 0.8 FTE.
- A gross salary between €3,546 and €6,433 per month (based on full-time employment of 38 hours per week), excluding 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus.
- 29 vacation days (based on full-time), four additional days off, and the possibility to build up 12 extra days via compensatory hours.
- Flexible working hours, a working-from-home allowance and hybrid working.
