Assistant Professor Clinical Neuropsychology

Welcome to Maastricht University
Are you a PhD graduate with post-doctoral training and a strong research profile in clinical neuropsychology? Do you have experience with psychodiagnostics and/or interventions in patient populations (without necessarily working in a clinical setting yourself)? And are you eager to contribute to innovative research and education in the field of clinical neuropsychology? Then this position is the one for you!

Our goal: Advancing education and research in clinical neuropsychology. We run various research lines that address biological, physiological, affective, and psychosocial aspects of healthy development and aging, as well as congenital and acquired neurological issues.
Your future team: A dedicated multidisciplinary team within the Neuropsychology section, focusing on the complex yet fascinating relationships between the brain and behavior.

About the position

The Neuropsychology section at the Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience is looking for an Assistant Professor with expertise in clinical neuropsychology. In this position, you will combine academic research with engaging teaching at the bachelor, master, and research master levels. You will work closely with colleagues and external partners, translating scientific insights into meaningful applications.

Although you will not be directly involved in clinical work, we expect you to have experience with diagnostics and/or interventions in patient populations, and to maintain a strong connection to clinical practice. You will supervise both research and clinical internships, assess clinical activities reports and case reports that are needed to obtain the Dutch registration for psychodiagnostics (BAPD), and support students in their preparation for professional practice.

What you bring
We’re not looking for a checklist – we’re looking for who you are and what you offer. Do you recognize yourself in the following?

  • Researcher with vision – You hold a PhD in (clinical) neuropsychology or a related field and bring clear ideas for future research.
  • Clinically grounded – You have experience with neuropsychological diagnostics and/or interventions in patient populations.
  • Connector with practical insight – You enjoy collaborating with clinical professionals and institutions.
  • Passionate educator – You have a passion for teaching and experience delivering skills training or courses in clinical neuropsychology.
  • Mentor and evaluator – You have supervised students in clinical internships and, ideally, assessed psychodiagnostics reports.
  • Teaching qualification – You (preferably) hold a University Teaching Qualification (UTQ), or are willing to obtain one.
  • Tech-savvy – You have some experience with modern neuroimaging tools and methods.
  • Team player with impact – You communicate clearly, enjoy working across disciplines, and bring energy and engagement to your academic environment.
  • Linguistically skilled – You are fluent in English. Proficiency in Dutch is a plus, especially for communication with patients and clinical partners.
